Craig Barnard was installed as pastor of Houston Presbyterian Church in June 2019. Although he has lived in several places in Alabama, he calls Birmingham home. Craig graduated from Belhaven College where he met his wife, Mary Beth. After serving First Presbyterian of Tuscumbia, AL, for three years, Craig went on to study at and graduate from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1996. He and Mary Beth have been blessed with three children and one beautiful granddaughter.
Craig has spent 30 plus years in the youth ministry and 14 as an ordained pastor. He has served churches in Tuscumbia, AL; Washington, MO; Columbus, MS; Ripely, MS; and now Houston, MS.
Craig enjoyed teaching high school Bible at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School, watching movies, cooking and family time and bad Dad jokes.
After three years and eight months of faithful service to Houston Presbyterian Church, the Lord called Craig to his eternal home on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at about the same time he would have been pronouncing the benediction at the end of our service. How fitting for a pastor. He is now free from all sickness and pain and is feasting at the Banquet Table of the Lamb. Even as his family and church mourn their loss, we know that he is with his Savior and Lord.
Please pray for Craig’s family and church as we strive to faithfully continue to serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
